Job Description

The Transportation Engineering (TRE) Program, Faculty of Civil and Environmental
Engineering, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is inviting applications for Research Associate
(full-time or part time) and Research Assistant (part-time) to join a growing research team led by
Dr. Ayushman Bhatt. The team is dedicated to study multitude of topics relating to transport
planning, policy, and economics.
Successful applicants will contribute to an overarching research project titled “Transportation
Policy Studies in Asia-Pacific”. The specific research tasksets assigned to the hired researchers
will encompass studying one or more aspects related to ongoing research on urban transportation
in Bangkok and inter-urban transportation in Asia-Pacific, and sustainable and resilient transport.
The duration of the recruitment will be maximum of total 160 hours spread across around 4-6
months for Research Assistant (part-time) and 3 to 4 months for Research Associate (full-time or
part time). Candidates should possess a strong interest in transport planning, travel behavior,
quantitative research methods, case study investigations, and sustainable cities.
The candidate will be expected to:
 Conduct and write systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses
 Coordinate and participate in fieldwork and data collection
 Conduct quantitative and/or qualitative data analyses

 Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and reports for publications
 Collaborate and communicate research updates with both internal and external
stakeholders

Qualification

 Bachelors or postgraduate degree (MA, MSc or equivalent) in civil engineering, urban
planning, architecture or related field.
 Demonstrable skills in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Strong organizational and data management skills
 Proficiency (or a strong inclination to learn) statistical software and analytics tools (e.g.,
Python, R, STATA, SPSS, MPlus)
